Below is a listing of the various collection guides, finding aids, and inventories for archival collections held by the Stephen B. Luce Library.

Special Collections

  • Lillian C. Liburdi Borrone Special Collection
    • Collection contains professional and personal items collected by Lillian C. Borrone during her career in the maritime industry and with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
  • Flying Finn, Inc. Collection
    • Collection contains blueprints of Flying Finn boats, business correspondence, and advertising materials.
  • Hudson River Pilots Association Records
    • The collection documents the activities of the Hudson River Pilots Association and includes pilot log books, summary ledgers, meeting minutes, a members’ agreement, bylaws, and a New York State Senate bill.
  • McNamara Ships' Plans Collection
    • A collection of large scale vessel plans dated between the years 1944 - 2005. Primarily consists of plans of cargo vessels, but includes a few bulk carriers, tankers, and barges.
  • Marine Society of New York
    • Collection of materials from the Marine Society of the City of New York including photographs, correspondence, official documents, and an original copy of their 1770 charter.
  • Moore McCormack Collection
    • Collection contains 63 scrapbooks of materials relating to the history of the Moore-McComack Lines from 1929-1970, as well as advertising materials from the late 1950s-early 1960s.
  • North Atlantic Ports Association Records
    • Meeting proceedings, reports, and notices from the North Atlantic Ports Association semi-annual meetings from 1949-1999.
  • Captain Daniel L. Porter Papers / Merchant Seaman Papers
    • Collection of mainly bills and accounts submitted to Captain Porter from the mid-19th century.
  • Sailors' Snug Harbor
    • Consists of photos, resident records, correspondence, and documents that pertain to the history of the Sailors' Snug Harbor organization.
  • Sandy Hook Pilot Log Books
    • Log books and records from the Sandy Hook Pilots from 1845-1964
  • Herbert Lee Seward Papers
    • Collection of blueprints, ship specifications, and miscellaneous documents on maritime matters.
  • Women's Propeller Club of the United States - Port of New York Records
    • Collection is focused around the documents collected by Filomena Magavero, who served as the organization's secretary in the 1970s and 1980s.
  • W. R. Grace Papers
    • Records from the W.R. Grace & Co. steamship line, later known as Prudential-Grace Lines before its dissolution in 1972.
